KoiSwarm 1.0 is now generally available

Today Kinetropic is releasing KoiSwarm 1.0, the first generally available version of the study workspace we build for medical students. It works from the material you are actually taught — your lecture slides, your PDFs, your anatomy diagrams — rather than a generic question bank, and it is built around one idea: the fastest way to find out what you know is to explain it out loud and be questioned on it. It delivers the general availability we announced in August.

What is KoiSwarm?

KoiSwarm is an AI study partner for medical students that you talk to out loud. It sits on top of a full workspace for medical study, practice and research: you bring your course material, KoiSwarm turns it into notes, practice and review, and then asks you to show that you know it.

Live Talk, the flagship agent

Live Talk is the agent KoiSwarm 1.0 is built around. You speak, it listens, it questions you back on what you actually said, and it tells you what you knew.

Students use it in two ways:

• Review out loud. The questions due for review that day become a conversation instead of a queue of cards — a session you can clear on a walk.
• Explain it back. You teach a topic as if to a classmate who has not covered it yet. Live Talk interrupts where the explanation has a gap and asks for the step you skipped.

Every session grades content and delivery separately, because knowing the answer and being able to say it are different problems. It ends with a report: a summary, the points you missed, and a model answer.

The design rests on three established findings from learning research. Retrieval practice outperforms re-reading (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006). Material produced aloud is remembered better than material read silently (MacLeod et al., 2010). And explaining to someone else deepens the explainer's own understanding (Fiorella & Mayer, 2013). Live Talk is the one format in KoiSwarm that combines all three.

Live Talk is a study partner for the material you are learning. It is not an OSCE or clinical-skills simulator, and it does not play a patient or score a physical examination.

The workspace behind Live Talk

Every agent in KoiSwarm works from your own material.

• SuperAgent takes one ambitious brief — "turn this cardiology deck into notes, check the guideline-sensitive claims, then build a ten-question USMLE mini-mock" — plans the work and brings in the right specialists.
• Notes turns lecture slides and PDFs into structured notes that keep the source context, with a separate verification pass for coverage and numerical claims.
• USMLE, MCQ and SAQ generate practice in three formats: one-best-answer clinical vignettes checked in a separate quality-control pass, focused multiple-choice sets, and short-answer questions marked against an explicit guide.
• Labelling converts the labelled diagrams in a PowerPoint deck into active-recall anatomy practice.
• Research searches PubMed and Semantic Scholar, appraises the studies and assembles a report whose citations are validated against real paper records. Deep Search answers current questions from the web with source links.
• Forgetting schedules every question you have answered for review on the day you are likely to lose it. It uses FSRS-6 through py-fsrs, the reference implementation, and never asks you to rate your own recall, because your answer has already been graded.
• Goals turn a longer commitment, such as a block exam, into a feasible daily plan measured by the practice you actually do.
• KoiClaw brings KoiSwarm into Telegram.

Uploaded sources and generated notes, reports and question sets are kept in Drive, and Google Drive can be connected as a source.

Plans and pricing

Both plans include every current agent: Pro changes the capacity of the workspace, not access to features. The Free plan requires no credit card. Prices exclude applicable tax, which Paddle, KoiSwarm's merchant of record, calculates at checkout. Full details are on the KoiSwarm pricing page.

Keeping KoiSwarm priced for students is a deliberate choice, and one that Kinetropic's residency at IT Park Uzbekistan is intended to support.

Features still in beta

KoiSwarm 1.0 is generally available. Two surfaces inside it remain labelled beta while they mature: Goals, and KoiClaw's Telegram connection, with WhatsApp and Discord planned. Forgetting is being switched on one source agent at a time, so the set of agents feeding the review queue will keep growing.
